During the month of October, I was working with Beth Rosen, PopCap Games, and The American Dental Association (ADA) on a fun Halloween campaign called Stop Zombie Mouth.
This Halloween, the ADA and PopCap Games redefined what a Halloween “treat” could be, by encouraging moms to give away free games instead of candy.
Together, the ADA and PopCap Games raised awareness of the importance of kids’ oral health in addition to providing a fun alternative to sugary treats.
My boys were ecstatic when they heard I was working on a Plants vs. Zombies campaign and almost did back flips when they saw the 50 packs of Plants vs. Zombies trading cards we received.
My boys still don’t exactly understand what I do for a living. But now they know my work has something to do with Plants vs. Zombies…which makes me one of the coolest moms on the block.
Instead of passing out the Plants vs. Zombies trading cards to our trick-or- treaters, my kids decided to pass the cards out during their classroom parties. And I have to say, the 1st and 3rd graders at school were just as excited about the cards as my boys. I even heard rumors that some boys were trading cards during recess.
Are you teaching your kids about good oral hygiene while they are eating up their Halloween candy?
Here are some ADA approved ways your kids can Stop Zombie Mouth…
- Brush for two minutes two times per day with fluoride toothpaste.
- Floss between your teeth daily.
- Eat fruits and veggies instead of sugary and starchy snacks.
- Wear a mouth guard while playing sports.
- Visit your dentist regularly. Dentists get lonely!
