Unlike the ninja turtles that my children dressed up as for Halloween, I do not have superpowers. And as a result of simply being human, my voice fell off the blogosphere in October. I had too much on my plate, I have not uploaded a new blog post for two weeks, and my social media updates have been few and far between.

My voice may have been missing in October, but I was still online. I was just behind the scenes.

I’ve been working on social media campaigns, providing social media coaching, coordinating a virtual book tour, and co-hosting a two month in-person blogging project. I’ve also been managing new mommy stuff with my family that has also taken up a lot of my attention.

Although I’m plowing forward with the family/mommy stuff that I have to deal with (stay tuned), most of my fall projects are coming to an end. And this means I’ll have more time to focus on The Mom Renewal Project again.

This is what I’m taking away from my busy and zany October…

1. There is only one of me and only twenty-four hours in each day.

2. It is necessary to get off as many email lists as possible.

3. It’s always okay to shift directions with your blog.

4. It pays to respond to emails in a timely manner (people notice).

5. My inner wisdom is challenging me to blog more about family renewal and less about me time.

6. Everything is better when we take deep mindful breathes.

7. Being a mom is the hardest job in the world and my heart really is walking around outside my body.

Do you have too much on your plate right now? What are you learning from your experience?

  • Good to see you back in action with Mom Renewal. I happen to be quite overwhelmed about blogging, I think it´s part of the process. I dig the family renewal.

  • We are in the middle of selling our house, planning a move across 1500 miles with 5 children and a few pets, and completing our fall activity schedule which is way overloaded in light of our family’s recent turn of events (with the move and all!). It is crazy! I too am getting off email lists and am reminding myself (and everyone else!) that there is only 1 of me and 24 hours in a day.

  • Yes, Yes, I do. I need to learn how to use my time better.

As an old boss used to constantly say , “work smarter, not harder.”

    That’s what I have to figure out…
