My family was invited to a special screening of The Weinstein Company’s new film, Escape from Planet Earth, which hit theaters across Chicago today.

Although many film critics are calling this show “mediocre”, I think Escape from Planet Earth is a light-hearted family film that everyone can enjoy. It was a perfect feel-good movie for my 6 and 9 year old boys, who enjoyed the comic peril, the mild potty jokes, and all of the silly aliens.

It’s a fun day at the movies. Nothing more. Nothing less.

The cast includes Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry, Jessica Alba, William Shatner, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Jonathan Morgan Heit.

This 3D animated family comedy catapults moviegoers to planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his brilliant but careful brother, Gary, head of mission control at BASA. When BASA’s no-nonsense chief Lena informs the brothers of an SOS from a notoriously dangerous planet (Earth), Scorch rejects Gary’s warnings and bounds off for yet another exciting mission. But when Scorch finds himself caught in a trap set by the evil Shanker, it’s up to risk-averse Gary to do the real rescuing. As the interplanetary stakes rise to new heights, Gary is left to save his brother, his planet, his wife, and their adventure-hungry son.
