Happy International Women’s Day! Today I am celebrating the advancement of women and how the advancement of women is SHIFTING how the world operates. I truly believe, that because women have been and continue to voice their opinions and their passions, we now live and work and connect in ways that embrace more generosity, more collaboration, more compassion, and more authenticity.
Women are bringing the heart-centered way of being into all facets of our society.
I’ve spent two days trying to put how I feel about International Women’s Day into words. And no matter how many times I revised this blog post, I was not able to successfully express just how much gratitude I have for modern women and the women that came before us.
I am so grateful for the women in the early 1900s who decided to use their voices and take action against women’s oppression and inequality. I don’t know the names or faces of these inspiring women, but I’m so grateful for their wisdom and their courage to campaign for women’s rights to work, to vote, to hold public office and to end discrimination.
I can’t possibly know all of the names and faces of women around the world today that continue to hold the torch and continue to be champions for women’s equality. I am grateful for all the women who remain vigilant and tenacious for further sustainable change.
I found the following video on InternationalWomensDay.com and think it does a pretty great job summing up how I’m feeling today. I don’t have twins, but everything else is pretty spot on.
We have come very far in many societies around the world…but there are still so many more ways we need to evolve. Personally, I love that I can be a thriving force in the business world, that I can live my passion, own my own business, and provide for my family.
HOWEVER…as a working mom, I also have to BE THERE for my children body, mind, and spirit. Do I have the opportunity to do it all? YES! Does society support working moms to the extent that they need to be supported? NO.
Today I honor how far we’ve come and I also grab my torch – my responsibilities – for marching on.
